Boys Will Be Boys!

Chilli Chihuahua with his buddy Lucky

Hey Lucky, Where Shall We Go Next?

My buddy Lucky is hanging out with me today. We’re having a tail wagging sleep over! Whenever he comes to stay we have this fun little routine. It goes like this: Lucky strutts into my flat, he gives me a sniff “hello!” and then he goes to look for Little Lamb. You see it’s his favourite one of my toys. I like it a lot too, I suppose it’s macho rivalry. We run around chasing each other, trying to grab the lamb as we can’t wait for our turns. Impatient wawas. Anyway, Mummy was really busy so Lucky and I decided to pull on our coats and jumped into a cab. “Where are you going?” asked the cabbie. “How about we go to the park?” I suggested. So off we went.

Chihuahua Behaviour Checklist With Some Funny Dog Stories!

October 6, 2016
Chilliwawa Dog Stories

Now, I know we Chihuahuas are just the cutest and most adorable little mongrels on the planet, but occasionally we can misbehave. However, that does make for some funny dog stories. We aim to please.

It’s not usually our fault. It’s usually because of kids who pull our tail or stroke us the wrong way (I hate that!) Or old ladies who pick up us up and smear their bright pink lipstick all over our lovely designer scarves.

When something as distressing as this happens, I can’t help but go barking mad! And my bark is a strong bark. My bark can be heard for miles. My bark is so ferocious it will make grown men cry. Ha!

But Mommy says I need to behave better. She thinks sometimes I am provoked too easily and need to control my temper. I thought maybe she was right. I always try to listen to what Mommy says. But I do not she does like to dine out on my funny dog stories so I don’t think she minds too much.

So, last week we decided to create the world’s very first Chihuahua Dog Behaviour Checklist!

The idea was that Mommy and I would go to the park, where I tend to bark a lot, to see what bothered me. Then I would try my best to keep calm any time I wanted to bark.

So here it is…

Chihuahua Dog Behaviour Checklist!

1. Be nice to kids. Even the ones with sticky fingers.

This is another one of my funny dog stories. We’d only been in the park for five minutes when 2 little girls came over and started petting me. They made a strange squealing noise, but they were gentle and thankfully they stroked me the right way. I didn’t feel like barking 🙂

But then their baby brother noticed us. He looked awkward and clumsy as he stumbled towards us. Hmm. This was more dangerous, I thought. He came closer, to within touching distance, and I began to get nervous. And that’s when I noticed it: a jam sandwich! IN HIS HAND! Oh God! I looked at Mommy. She hadn’t noticed. I didn’t bark. I stayed calm. I didn’t want to fail the behaviour test so quickly. The baby brother reached out his free hand. I could see the jam stuck to his fingers. It was awful. They moved towards me. Closer – inches away! I shut my eyes tight. ‘Don’t bark, Chilli’ I thought to myself, ‘Whatever you do, don’t bark!’. And that’s when Mommy saved me. Just in the nick of time Mommy saw the boy’s sticky jam fingers and lifted me to safety! It was like an angel swooping down to save me from something truly terrible.

I love you Mommy!!

Verdict: Pass!

2. Indulge your fans

Being the Internet’s cutest and possibly most famous Chihuahua, it doesn’t surprise me when people stop Mommy and I in the park to ask for a photo. They are great fans of all the funny dog stories that appear on this site. Ha, modest, moi? Usually I don’t mind this, but sometimes – if I’m having a bad day – I simply don’t have the time.

After escaping the sticky jam fingers, however, I was in a good mood. I wanted to show Mommy how grateful I was too, so when somebody recognised me and asked to take a photo, I was more than happy to oblige! I posed for 3 or 4 and put on my best smile. Mommy was pleased 🙂

Verdict: Pass!

3. Respect your elders

We continued our walk and my tail was wagging. I felt great. This behaviour test was easy! ‘I was going to pass with flying colours!’ I thought. Mommy said what a good boy I was. I love my Mommy.

But then another dog appeared. He was an ugly, bigger dog that I’d never seen before. God he was a brute. And here he was, on my patch! ‘How dare he!’ I thought. And he was old and smelled awful. A big, old, brutish dog making a smell on MY patch!! I couldn’t resist. ‘Go away!’ I barked, ‘Take your old horrid smell some place else!’ I barked again. It felt good. And if I didn’t tell him then who would? He looked scared when he walked past with his owner. ‘Ha!’ I thought.

But Mommy wasn’t impressed. She scolded me. “Chilli! I thought we agreed you were going to behave today! What did that nice old dog ever do to you? You should respect your elders Chilli!”

I realised Mommy was right. I shouldn’t have barked at him for being old, ugly and smelly. I should respect my elders like Mommy says.

Verdict: Fail

4. Be the bigger dog and walk away

I was determined to make up for my little outburst and show Mommy that I could pass the Chihuahua Dog Behaviour test. Just one chance – that’s all I needed!

Then I saw another dog. A bigger and older dog who I could respect! Yes! The dog came closer. Gosh he really was big, and quite scary-looking actually. But it didn’t matter; I would respect him anyway! But then I realised he didn’t want to be friendly. He suddenly leaped towards me, pulling his surprised owner by the leash, and barked very loudly. He had the scariest bark I’d ever heard! Suddenly I didn’t want to be friends with this dog anymore, even if it meant I lost my chance to redeem myself. Mommy shouted at the bad dog and I ran to the other side of her. I was scared, but Mommy would keep me safe!

Before the dog could reach us his owner pulled him back and shouted at him too. He turned and walked away. I was safe, and I hadn’t barked back! “Well done Chilli” said Mommy, “he was a nasty dog but you behaved so well. Here, take a doggy treat for being such a good boy.”

Verdict: Pass!

And just like that, I was happy again. I had passed the first Chihuahua Dog Behaviour Test! And received a treat! That really is one of many funny dog stories. Mind you I am using the word ‘funny’ in the ironic sense here

Now I’m looking forward to the next test. I could be the best-behaved Chihuahua in London before long! 🙂 What do you think?

Stylish Dog Out On The Town: I Love Chelsea!

September 8, 2016
Chilliwawa Stylish Dog at Dior

Mummy was getting ready to go out. But I knew we were going somewhere special as she chose a lovely 50’s inspired dress and glam accessories. She even asked me to wear my bowtie with my bling collar! We got ready and hopped in a cab. “Sloane Street, please”, Mummy said to the driver. She explained to me we were going to get her ring repaired. It is very precious to her as it was a special gift. We finally arrived in Chelsea and there we were: in front of the Dior shop. You see I’m a fashionable dog who knows his brands.

Enter The World Of A Stylish Dog

A handsome man opened the door for us and we were instantly greeted by some lovely ladies. They welcomed us and I got to say hello to them all. I like meeting beautiful women, they are always nice to me. So we hung out in the shop for a while, but unfortunately no photos allowed indoors. Such a shame as the carpet was really nice. I could have rolled on it all day and rubbed my back.

Mommy had a look at the nice displays and she showed me their miniature furniture. “Imagine that would be our house,” she said. “We could have tea together and get all dressed up and you’d be a stylish dog on a stylish chair!” I must say, I do enjoy being stylish. Wearing my diamante collar makes me feel cool. But I think it’s more important to Mummy rather than to me.

You see my Mummy’s a fashionista! She loves the latest fashion trends and always looking stylish. So she puts together my outfits too! She even designs things for me. I know that if Dior made dog collars she would have bought me one.

I have some very stylish dog friends too. They wear their fur coats and look shiny and new.

Stylish Dog on Sloane Street

After Dior, Mummy decided for us to have a stroll down Sloane Street. We passed some lovely shops but I must say they are missing a charcuterie. There is no where to buy some ham or pastrami to snack on! Harrods unfortunately doesn’t allow dogs inside. So we couldn’t even go there. Maybe I could get a petition going about opening some form of meaty snack bar. I know all of my friends would sign it and then we could go and hang out at the stylish dog snack place. Maybe for a change we would not allow humans! They could all wait outside and chit chat whilst we enjoy our snacks.

I think I need to ask Mummy to buy me some more bow ties! It’s nice to look the part of a stylish dog!

Chilli’s Birthday Party!

Chilli's birthday party

Happy Birthday to me!

It was my birthday and Mommy planned a whole day of fun for us! First she made me a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs. Yummy! She put candles for me too. Later we went for a walk in my favourite park. It was so nice and sunny. And I met one of my little friends Tiffany. We played together and I also got to say hello to the park regulars.

Chilli's birthday breakfast

In the evening Mommy organised a surprise party for me! She invited my friends and they took me to a secret location. There my friends sang: “Happy Chilli to me, happy Chilli to me, happy Chilli happy birthday happy Chilli to me!” They all clapped and gave me lovely presents! I got some fancy treats and a lovely sweater! I will post pictures very soon! We ordered some delicious food. I asked Mommy if I could have the burger. She said yes as it’s my birthday 🙂

I had such a lovely time and thank you to all my friends for your lovely messages.

Lots of love,

Dog training: Two Paws on Object!

November 26, 2015
Chilli Chihuahua in dog training give paw

Paw work is fantastic dog training prep!

Today I would like to keep you updated on my paw work dog training. A lot of us little Chihuahuas are a bit scared of touching anything with our paws. You see we are not very confident about scary objects! However a lot of really cool dog tricks involve us using our paws on various objects so in order to learn these tricks we must start with the basics: Two paws on an object. My lovely teacher started by teaching me how to “give paw” to a person’s hand and then to place one paw on a scary object. Then she escalated it to two paws on an object. So now that I can do this we are working on some very cool things! I will keep you updated! Paw waves xxx

Dog Agility Training: My first ever full course!

October 26, 2015

Chihuahua Dog Agility Training: Woosh!

Dear friends today I have a very special post to write. Mommy and I started my agility training a few months ago as you know. I love the rush I get from jumping and tunnelling! My lovely teacher invited Mommy and me to join her and my buddy Lucky at a special Sausage Dog Agility group to practise what I’ve learned in a full course! It has equipment and obstacles I have never tried before but my teacher had confidence I could try them out. We went to the lovely country side on a glorious day where I met many new Dachshund friends!

The course was really quite big in fun colours and there were lots of distractions. You see I’ve never been in such an environment before. It was tough for me to concentrate at first-I was very nervous and scared and forgot how to do everything! So Mommy put me on the lead and slowly lured me around. I was apprehensive of the dog walk, which I’ve never done before and jumping through the tyre was new too. But after a couple of goes I started to feel the enthusiasm again and yippee it was fun! I was jumping high and even tried the upside down V for the first time. I wasn’t ready to complete the whole course off lead as the distractions were too much for me. I ran off a few times to see what the barking dogs in the nearby kennel wanted. So for now on lead was fine. Mommy was very proud of me.

I would like to thank the organiser and her sweet friends for having me and for taking such lovely photos! Enjoy the photo gallery. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Chilli xxx

Dog Agility Training: My first tunnel!

September 14, 2015
Chilliwawa first tunnel dog agility training

Dog Agility Training: Chihuahua on a tunneling mission!

Today was the first time I ever ran through this big blue tube Mommy calls a tunnel! My lovely teacher set it up in the park. She says it is an important part of dog agility training. I was a bit apprehensive at first but I quickly found the thrill in zooming through it! Mommy was waiting for me at the other end with a tasty treat…yummy! Can’t wait to show you a video of this…coming soon. Chilli Chihuahua-Dog with a blog xxx
