Dear fans, I am so excited that I met a real life celebrity fox, Mr Basil Brush himself! He was so foxy that he asked if I would like to join him on his ride. How could I resist? You see, he said I look a bit foxy myself (I did explain the whole wolfy not foxy ancestor thing, but hey who’s counting?).
The Card Conundrum
I was invited to my friend Nikita’s first birthday pawty and decided to make her a special card! The only problem was that without opposable thumbs, getting myself glued to the card was barely inevitable! But just in case you’re wondering, I managed to stay detached! Phew!
Getting ready for the pawty is always lots of work: Mummy does her makeup, chooses her outfit carefully, and me, well I just turn up all fluffy and handsome 😉 Especially with a suntan, who could resist?
You can take the man out of the country, but you can’t take the ball chasing out of the Schnauzer!
We all met in the park, including our buddy Barnaby, the Schnauzer. Barnaby does try to strut his inner Chihuahua but he can’t resist acting like a… well… how can I say it… dog! (In case you’re not sure, Chihuahuas are not classified as simply dogs, we are Chiwawas!)
Look at our tall shadows! Chihuahua long legs!
We were causing quite a bit of attention! A stranger stopped and asked if she could take a picture of us and post it on her Facebook page! You see, this is how fame starts apparently…Chihuahua-tastic!
It was quite chilly (excuse the pun) in the park and we were all feeling peckish, so we headed to trendy Farmacy on Westbourne Grove. I could already see the hostess’ face, dreading the dog invasion of her restaurant! But as we were mostly (very well behaved, we hardly bark, snap or growl except for when we do!) Chihuahuas, the restaurant welcomed us! (Do you see the importance of being small and cute now?)
I studied the menu over and over but couldn’t find the chicken, so I asked Mummy where it was hiding. She said this is vegan cuisine (you see, Mummy likes vegetables…a lot…me, I’m more of an animal lover…)
Happy Birthday Nikita!
Chihuahuas love selfies! Mummy says veggie-cheese! I say chicken!
Psst I’ll tell you a little secret. Some big celebrities were having a private party in the special room! The manager showed it to me once the guests had left. Doesn’t it look smashing? Look, they’ve even offered me a Margarita! (Well, I was kindly informed that it’s not a good idea for Chihuahuas to drink cocktails as as their inner dog might come out, so I will pass it on…)
Chilling in my Chilli-Bag! This is the best way to keep me out of trouble! Ankles of passersby, you are safe now!
Thank you Farmacy for being such good sports and welcoming us! We give you a pawtastic high five!
Rating: 5/5 Paws!
My dear friends and scrummy fans, another year has passed, can you believe it? I had the pleasure to celebrate my 5th birthday with Mummy and my friends recently.
What an occasion! We set the date in advance and sent out some handmade Chihuahua-tastic invitations! Mummy and I then got down to the planning and made a list of what we thought might be lots of fun for everyone, including the birthday dog of course!
It was quite a gathering. The little Chihuahuas were very feisty about their party space. This was especially fun to watch when Sebastian the Poodle kept annoying my buddy tiny Lucky. I have to say that a Chow Chow puppy was mesmerised by me and tried to crash our party! Mummy told me I wasn’t particularly well behaved as I was having none of it! The Chow kept coming back and annoying me. It was a case of ‘Don’t worry us little Chow as we’re the big boys.’ Yes, I guess it was a little mean but it was MY birthday after all!
It was fab hanging out with all of my best friends since puppyhood! Mummy couldn’t really complain because I spread my attention totally between Lucy and Nikita (ahem, the only girls ) and they kept me pretty occupied.
But what was super exciting was we caused quite a stir. We were sitting at the tables in the shop window area of the cafe and honestly we turned into Notting Hill celebrities. Passers by stopped and stared, smiled and marveled at what was going on! They couldn’t really believe their eyes. They kept mouthing through the window whose birthday we were celebrating. So Mummy held me up and we all screamed Chilli!
People were taking pictures of us and by the end of the day I felt like a superstar! I have to say that I made so many new friends and everyone was keen to join in too. It was such a social occasion and such a fab thing to arrange so why don’t you give it a go?
So if you want a dog party to remember then here are some tips to creating an awesome dog birthday party and it’s easy to do with a pawsome impact!
5 pawsome tips for the best dog party ever!
- Sort out the goodie bags for dog and human guests – make them fun!
- Organise the most delicious cake in the world for your dog party
- Take plenty of pictures of your dog birthday party
- Book a dog friendly venue
- Make a present list
Prepare some fun goodie bags for your guests!
As our plan was to go for a nice walk in the park first, we thought our guests would be hungry by the time we rocked up at the venue. So we went to the Pound Shop and found some tiny espresso paper cups with lids. Mummy filled these with delicious home-cooked chicken & veg casserole (for dogs only – go on, be jealous). We then put a cup in each dog party bag, as well as a lollipop for the mums! I thought it was fun to add a cute candle too. To top it all off, we slipped in a tasty Good Boy chicken chew. That was the birthday dog’s idea!
Delicious Patisserie Valerie cake for the humans!
If you live in London, you must have seen the delicious cakes at Patisserie Valerie! Who could miss them. I have to tug the lead to stop Mummy from pressing her nose against the window each time we pass.So it is safe to say that mummy loves them so we ordered a chocolate, banana and strawberry cake for the mums and dads. Of course I know that chocolate is dangerous for us doggies so don’t worry, I didn’t have a lickie – not even a small one! Patisserie Valerie allows you to pre-order cakes in many flavours and sizes. The one we ordered is for 6-8 people. The next time we’ll go for the bigger one, so I am reliably told!
Book a great dog-friendly venue: Verve Pet Cafe, Westbourne Grove
Mummy and I wanted to pick a venue where us doggies can run around and really have fun. As quite a few of us were going, we thought we would need enough space for the humans to sit and us doggies to play. What better place to throw a party for the birthday dog than Verve Pet Cafe? It’s a stunning venue with a cafe, bar and shop. You can sip on a cappuccino whilst choosing from the most deluxe leather and diamante collars in town. You will always meet some doggies there, including the residents, my buddy Louie the Chihuahua, a standard Poodle with style and a huge teddy bear Mastiff, who really is the sweetest. The owner reserved the tables for us and everyone made sure we had a great time! Honestly you couldn’t want for anything better!
Have a great time and take lots of pictures!
Here are some pics of all of the fun we had 🙂 Meet my buddies doggie & human!
So what do you bring the birthday boy or girl? Here are some of the amazing presents I received!
One of my friends made me a special customised bag! I think it’s super cool 🙂 Mummy and I think it’s always fun to add a personal touch when possible. Be creative with any bits and bobs you have lying around the house! It doesn’t have to cost the earth just a little creativity, thought and time. Those really are the very best presents to give and receive.
I also received a collapsible Beco Bowl made from soft rubber. It folds flat so you can easily pop it in a bag, and when you need it, it unfolds into a bowl. Cool!
These are some really fun and original bandanas I received and I just love them! They are Verve’s own designs and come in a wide selection! You just slip them on the collar and you’re ready to go.
My Auntie who is also my teacher, gave me this pawsome training toy from Kong! There are lots of fun interactive dog toys around, which are great for relaxing, entertainment and learning. Who says treat time can’t be even more fun?
There is another pet boutique my Auntie likes a lot which sells loads of cool doggie items, The Mutz Nutz. Here you will find a range of dog clothes, toys and yummy food, do check them out. I also received some cards, thank you!
As you can probably see in all of the photos I was given a brand new collar by my lovely friend! I absolutely love it and it matches Mummy’s grey winter coat. She’s also getting me a matching lead!
Meet my new blue kitty, angry bird and alligator friends! Right now I’m having so much fun playing with my new toys!
Did we learn anything?
Next time we’ll know to always prepare for the unexpected- friends and doggies may well join in. So make sure you have enough cake for more than you expect; you never know whom you might encounter.
We also thought tiny party hats would add even more spirit to the whole celebration and they’re such fun too!
I hope this post gives you plenty of inspiration for your dog birthday party! I know Mummy is already thinking up good ideas for the next one 🙂 If you ask she might just help you too!
Lots of love,
Hey Lucky, Where Shall We Go Next?
My buddy Lucky is hanging out with me today. We’re having a tail wagging sleep over! Whenever he comes to stay we have this fun little routine. It goes like this: Lucky strutts into my flat, he gives me a sniff “hello!” and then he goes to look for Little Lamb. You see it’s his favourite one of my toys. I like it a lot too, I suppose it’s macho rivalry. We run around chasing each other, trying to grab the lamb as we can’t wait for our turns. Impatient wawas. Anyway, Mummy was really busy so Lucky and I decided to pull on our coats and jumped into a cab. “Where are you going?” asked the cabbie. “How about we go to the park?” I suggested. So off we went.
It was a glorious autumn morning today with the sun streaming into our home. Mummy and I woke up, looked at each other and smiled as we had the same thought! “Let’s go the park!” It is a very special time of year at the moment for us chiwawa boys. There are lots of exciting smells hidden in between the leaves and if we’re really lucky there will be some cheeky squirrels hunting for their last treasures. Mummy made sure I look super stylish (of course) and picked out my camouflage military look coat. I must say, it is very New York urban cool. She asked me if I would like to wear sunglasses too, but I thought that might be too much. Besides, I need the ladies to see when I’m winking at them!
Once in the park I was welcomed by a red sea of warm leaves. As a fawn chiwawa with a hint of strawberry in my precious fur I do tend to camouflage a bit. But not too much so you can still see me!
Mummy was getting ready to go out. But I knew we were going somewhere special as she chose a lovely 50’s inspired dress and glam accessories. She even asked me to wear my bowtie with my bling collar! We got ready and hopped in a cab. “Sloane Street, please”, Mummy said to the driver. She explained to me we were going to get her ring repaired. It is very precious to her as it was a special gift. We finally arrived in Chelsea and there we were: in front of the Dior shop. You see I’m a fashionable dog who knows his brands.
Enter The World Of A Stylish Dog
A handsome man opened the door for us and we were instantly greeted by some lovely ladies. They welcomed us and I got to say hello to them all. I like meeting beautiful women, they are always nice to me. So we hung out in the shop for a while, but unfortunately no photos allowed indoors. Such a shame as the carpet was really nice. I could have rolled on it all day and rubbed my back.
Mommy had a look at the nice displays and she showed me their miniature furniture. “Imagine that would be our house,” she said. “We could have tea together and get all dressed up and you’d be a stylish dog on a stylish chair!” I must say, I do enjoy being stylish. Wearing my diamante collar makes me feel cool. But I think it’s more important to Mummy rather than to me.
You see my Mummy’s a fashionista! She loves the latest fashion trends and always looking stylish. So she puts together my outfits too! She even designs things for me. I know that if Dior made dog collars she would have bought me one.
I have some very stylish dog friends too. They wear their fur coats and look shiny and new.
Stylish Dog on Sloane Street
After Dior, Mummy decided for us to have a stroll down Sloane Street. We passed some lovely shops but I must say they are missing a charcuterie. There is no where to buy some ham or pastrami to snack on! Harrods unfortunately doesn’t allow dogs inside. So we couldn’t even go there. Maybe I could get a petition going about opening some form of meaty snack bar. I know all of my friends would sign it and then we could go and hang out at the stylish dog snack place. Maybe for a change we would not allow humans! They could all wait outside and chit chat whilst we enjoy our snacks.
I think I need to ask Mummy to buy me some more bow ties! It’s nice to look the part of a stylish dog!
Little Dog with Big News!
I got a proper fan mail today! It was in the form of an email. But Mommy printed it for me and put it in a nice envelope so I could experience it old school style 🙂 I was thrilled to hear that someone whom I’ve never met took the time to write to me and tell me how much she enjoyed my blog! I am very grateful to her and all of you who like my posts, comment and send me lovely messages on social media.
Lots of love
Happy Birthday to me!
It was my birthday and Mommy planned a whole day of fun for us! First she made me a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs. Yummy! She put candles for me too. Later we went for a walk in my favourite park. It was so nice and sunny. And I met one of my little friends Tiffany. We played together and I also got to say hello to the park regulars.
In the evening Mommy organised a surprise party for me! She invited my friends and they took me to a secret location. There my friends sang: “Happy Chilli to me, happy Chilli to me, happy Chilli happy birthday happy Chilli to me!” They all clapped and gave me lovely presents! I got some fancy treats and a lovely sweater! I will post pictures very soon! We ordered some delicious food. I asked Mommy if I could have the burger. She said yes as it’s my birthday 🙂
I had such a lovely time and thank you to all my friends for your lovely messages.
Lots of love,
Love is in the air on Dog Blog!
I thought I’d get Mommy something special for Valentine’s Day. I went out early this morning without Mommy realising and went to the lovely flower shop around the corner. The nice lady there asked me for whom the flowers are? I said they’re for my Mommy 🙂 She was very happy when I gave them to her.
Wishing all of you a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
